by Peter Bonadonna
The FDA strongly encourages appropriate Ultrasound use and to date, has no evidence that any harm is being done. The FDA wants to regulate it because the medical groups don't want non-medical uses of the technology. The energies used on small test animals were not scaled back to equivalent levels. In addition to this animal studies often don't correlate with human physiology. If you look at the numbers and kinds of birth defects in 3rd world countries that don't use Ultrasound you will find the same incidence of occurrence. If you worry about heating tissues, then the mother should not walk up a flight of stairs or take a warm shower. These are both able to raise internal temps to the same level we are talking about. Why is the author's name and medical title not listed. To publish this kind of work, I think, this is not very responsible. Click here to read or post comments. |
