What Is Homeopathy?

What is homeopathy? That is a great question but not necessarily an easy one to answer.

Homeopathy is a system of medicine which is based on treating you - as a person - with highly diluted substances - given in mainly tablet form - which trigger your body's natural system of healing. Based on the group of your symptoms, a homeopath will match the most appropriate remedy for you.

Homeopathy is ideal for you - a woman in your childbearing years - if you want a gentle system of medicine. During pregnancy, some women choose to live with the discomfort of minor complaints such as morning sickness or heartburn, rather than seek traditional treatments - namely pharmaceutical drugs - because they are concerned about the possible side effects of such drugs on their unborn baby.

Are you one of those moms? If so homeopathy might be for you.

Homeopathic remedies are safe for your growing baby because only a tiny particle of the active ingredient is used in their preparation.

Unfortunately for you - as well as your baby - the medical profession has diverted the once joyous process of pregnancy and giving birth into a panicked, stressful medical emergency. Due to the high number of lawsuits resulting from medical negligence, doctors are now over-prescribing as part of practicing what is called "defensive medicine." If you wonder what this type of medicine means, simply put it means "cover my rear." Great for the doctors, but this new attitude has now brought to light increasing concern over the use of drugs during pregnancy which your baby will also receives.

It is well known - yet also ignored - that research shows that medical drugs used during labor and delivery have short - as well as long-term side effects - on babies. Homeopathy can help to ensure a drug-free pregnancy and labor.

These are some of the areas where homeopathy can aid you during pregnancy, childbirth and after the birth of your baby:

Homeopathy and Pregnancy:

  • Morning Sickness
  • Constipation
  • Breech Baby

  • Homeopathy and Birth:

  • Retained Placenta
  • Postpartum Hemorrhage
  • Asphyxia of Newborn

  • Homeopathy and Postpartum:

  • Perineal Tears and Episiotomies
  • Post Natal Depression

  • Homeopathy and Breastfeeding:

  • Sore and Cracked Nipples
  • Post Natal Depression
  • Remember: You are spirit, mind and body. Physical symptoms often accompany emotional symptoms. You will notice a mention of both when working with homeopathy.

NOTE: We are going to stick with "minor" complaints. If your symptoms are severe or chronic please, consult a registered homeopath, your midwife and/or your general practitioner. If you are already undergoing a course of homeopathic treatment, contact your homeopath before self-diagnosing or self-prescribing.

Common Medical Response to "Are Homeopathic Remedies Safe?"

Ronald J. Ruggiero, pharmacy and obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive science states:

"Theoretically, homeopathy can't hurt anyone because the ingredients are so diluted. However, we don't know for sure because homeopathic ingredients haven't been studied. So I would say all homeopathic remedies are out." (1)

    Huh?

    The Truth:

There are in fact hundreds of studies that prove the effectiveness of homeopathic remedies.
