I was positive, too!
by: Alisha - NPM

Congrats on your baby boy!!! What a wonderful time you are going to have!!

When I was pregnant with my son I tested postive for GBS. I spoke with another midwife who is familiar with natural remedies. She told me to use a peri bottle and spray with chlorhexidine - basically an oral/mouth wash - every day, then re-test.

The next test was negative. When I knew for sure that I was in labor - before heading to the Birth Center - I did one more rinse with the chlorhexidine.

So, I did not take antibiotics during labor. Johnathan was born without any issues. I was monitored for an additional 6 hours because of my first positive test.

But everything turned out just fine, for me!

I am sorry that they will not re-test you. But I would speak with your birth attendant about your concerns and wishes in this matter... perhaps they will be more willing to work with you if you present them with further information - like the page that Florence sent you to.

Good luck and God Bless you and your baby!!

Movement and GBS
by: Natural Pregnancy Mentor - Florence

Hi Hespera,

First of all, congratulations about your baby boy!

It is very common to feel movement and then not at this stage. Your baby boy is still small and depending on the way he is laying, your activity lever, amoniotic fluid levels, etc. all this affects how you feel his movements.

Also know that 16 weeks is early especially for a first time mom.

By 20 weeks, most moms should feel more regular movement.

However, if you are very concerned, it never hurts to check if this will put your mind at ease.

As for GBS, I will refer you to this page which list many natural alternatives.

The other co-owner of Natural Pregnancy Mentor used one with wonderful success and she avoided the antibiotics. I have asked her to share her story with you. So expect to read her story in the next few days.

Blessings to you!
