Silas' co sleeping story

Silas and Daddy waking up
We brought our 2 day old son home from the hospital and laid him down in his bassinet next to our bed.
He slept fine but I felt so terrible. I cried for him the whole time he spent in the bassinet.
My husband and I both adore cuddling up to our beautiful little baby but had been told not to put him in our bed, we'd roll over on him and he would be very co-dependent.
His bassinet sleeping lasted two days before I couldn't take it anymore. The only way I could get rest is if he was next to me.
He is breastfed so co-sleeping makes it very easy. It goes against our instinct for him to not be with us.
Against the advice of everyone around us, Silas has slept in our bed for 3 months and will continue until we all are ready for him to sleep alone.
The bonding is incredible. I love waking up to see our baby sleeping peacefully on his father's chest.
we got rid of our old bed when Silas started rolling over, it was too high up and I didn't want bed rails or a bedside sleeper. So we bought a firm but comfy futon mattress and threw it on the floor. We're all very comfortable and it's safe.
Whether you chose to co-sleep or not, go with your instinct. It will not fail you! Co-sleeping just works for my family, it's what is best for us.
