Cardiac Arrest is One of the Side Effects of Epidural
It is an undisputed fact that one of the side effects of epidural is cardiac arrest. Yes, it is rare. Before you look at this true story let's look at some facts. The epidural procedure - even though popular - is not risk free. A recent study conducted in England from 2000 to 2005 concluded that "there are serious complications with epidural anesthesia which although rare must be taken into consideration." The experts conducting the study called for the creation of a national database to record all complications arising from epidural anesthesia. Note: Another thing...two weeks before your due date is term NOT premature! Here is what one registered nurse says:
In conclusion, side effects of epidural are real and can be life threatening...before making any decision, we just ask that you have all the facts. Epidurals can be wonderful and safer than general anesthesia for the women who must have one BUT epidurals are not risk free. So let's make sure that the benefits outweigh the risks. |
