Say NO to Drugs!

by Carol
(U.S.)

Hi, I see that your site is an SBI site. Mine is as well http://www.allaboutrosegardening.com
I want to share my story with your readers, put could I first ask a question?

My granddaughter was born after an intensive 48 hrs of labour. (Really bad doctor) I feel to let her labour so long!

The baby was head down, but face up, so I assume not putting pressure where it needed to be. Again (stupid doctor). She had sent her for the ultrasound that confirmed baby's position the week before.

Instead of turning the baby's position that I think would have progressed the labour, she opted to give my (very exhausted daughter) Morphine instead.

I protested, but the doc assured my daughter it was perfectly safe!!!!!

It did nothing so she gave her more!!!

Still nothing. She tried Nubain (not sure i spelled that right), then more morphine, then one more narcotic!

Can you believe this? The doctor wanted me to leave the hospital (actually had words with her, and I'm not done with her yet!)

Still the labour contractions continued about 3-4 min apart. Strong contractions that went to the top of the graft lines, hitting sometimes 100.

The doctor made a phone call and had me speak to "another doctor on the team" who also assured me that they were doing the best for my daughter!
Because I was so clearly upset.

They refused to induce by breaking the water or giving Pitocin.

Eventually they gave in and gave her an epidural, which allowed her to sleep.

The next day (with the help of a wonderful nurse who learned of the baby's position) By ME! Stupid doc hadn't said a word, she helped her to get into certain positions that actually made the baby turn and go face down.

By the next day, she had began dialating, and they finally gave her the Pitocin, and then broke the water. Two hours later, baby was born unresponsive!!!

Worst moment of my life!

I thought the baby was dead!!

A whole team of Doctors? Nurses? rushed in, and finally got her to pink up and begin to breath, and eventually cry.

If there was something I could do to take away this doctor's licence, I would gladly do it!

I hope there are no long term affects of baby Alison, but only time will tell.

Now that I read all this stuff it makes me so sad that I didn't know this before, because I certainly would have protested louder (at the top of my lungs if I had to!) But when you are in the moment and don't have acess to info what can you do?

If you have any thoughts or comments for me, I will be waiting to hear them. Thanks so much!

If you want to edit this and turn it into a page for your site, please feel free to do so "Warn mothers of this danger" and tell them that they can't always trust the doctor!

Thanks for listening!

Carol
