Randy Wade 4-16-2003

Randy Wade was a surprise baby. Well, we weren't really trying to stop from getting pregnant, but I got pregnant a lot faster then we thought I would. :)

My estimated due date was April 2nd. After seeing my midwife, I decided that we would just wait RW out.

On April 15, I started feeling some pains. I didn't think anything of it, and just continued with my normal day.

The pains came and went, but it wasn't too painful, and wasn't close enough to start timing, so I cleaned up the house, went shopping to stock up on food and went to visit my grandmother who was at my mom's house.

I walked around the mall and went to lunch with my grandma. :) (yup.. all the while having contractions...lol) That night I went to sleep to save up my energy.

The next morning (April 16th) I woke up soaked. I called Randy (hubby) who was at work to tell him that I thought my water had broke. I then called my midwife.

I was still having contractions, but they were only about 10-15 minutes apart, so I wasn't too worried.

Randy came home and we packed some blankets and some of my favorite shampoo and soup and things I wanted during my labor and headed to the birthing center.

We got there, our midwife took me to my "bedroom" and let us get comfortable. I put on my comfy jammies and got my stuff set up (I had some pictures of my family and some music and books lol).

My midwife looked once just to make sure my water had broke (it had). She NEVER touched me because I did not want that. After that, I walked the halls to get the contractions to speed up, which they did.

At noon, I ate a little snack (I could have had more, but I was too excited to eat! LOL).

We ended up being there later then I wanted. I decided to lay down to try to sleep but about 10:15 pm my contractions took off!

I started to feel a lot of pressure, and Randy looked to see if he could see if I was dilated. Well, I must have been because he saw RW's head! LOL

I wasn't even pushing and RW was starting to come out. :D Well, hubby freaked (lol) and called for the nurse to call the midwife.

My mom (my mom and hubby were the only ones in the room) came over to the side of the bed and helped me sit up. I scooted my butt to the edge so that barely my butt was on the bed... (it looks as weird as it sounds).

The nurse (I call her a nurse, but I'm pretty sure she was a midwife in training) came in just as I started to push. I wasn't waiting...ha! She managed to catch RW with my second push.

Healthy baby boy, born at 10:46pm on April 16th. No medication, no complications, no real midwife (lol.. I still get a kick out of that part... the midwife came in AFTER he was born! ).

We stayed until about 1:30 am, then went home with our beautiful baby boy in the cute hat that grandma knit for him (that he wore til his head wouldn't fit lol)and me still in my pink jammies.. :D
