    Keep in mind that you may not have all the symptoms that go with a particular remedy - just take the one that matches the best or comes the closest. Use a 30C potency, take one dose - 1 to 5 pellets, but usually 3 - under the tongue and wait. The right remedy should have some effect within half an hour. Another method: put the remedy in water and stir vigorously before each additional sip, which you should take only if there is a relapse or a failure to make progress on the single dose.

    NOTE on pregnancy and homeopathy: In homeopathy, one dose is whatever remedies you take at ONE TIME. And 2 pellets of one remedy - for example a 30c, DO NOT add up to a 60c. A potency remains the same!

    Homeopathy and Pregnancy: Morning Sickness

    Symptoms of morning sickness include nausea, occasional vomiting and tiredness. Many women experience these symptoms during the first three months of pregnancy, usually in the morning when the stomach is empty, although it can occur at any time of the day.

    The traditional cure of eating crackers before getting out of bed is worth trying. Avoid rich, fatty foods and try eating little portions throughout the day if your nausea is worse when you are hungry.

    Seek professional help if your vomiting is severe, for example if you are unable to keep any food down and are losing weight or if it persists past your third month.

    The following remedies are the most commonly used for treating morning sickness:

  • Anacardium - Nausea is relieved by eating.
  • Antimonium Crudum or Antimonium Crud. - Tongue thickly coated white. Better lying down, better warm baths, worse from being looked at.
  • Cocculus - Worse from motion, such as riding in a car; chilly, worse from open air; worse from loss of sleep; excessive salivation and much thirst for cold drinks.
  • Colchicum - Cannot bear the smell or even thought of food! Worse from riding in a car. Worse from standing up or lying flat. Better flexing knees or bending forward.
  • Ipecac - Continuous nausea not relieved by vomiting. Drooling. Tongue is clear/not coated. Thirst-less. Desires open air. Worse from warmth and motion.
  • Nux Vomica - Nausea in the morning, in bed. Vomiting after eating. You may have a sensation that there is a knot in your stomach. Irritable and angry. Constipation. Wakes at night and cannot get back to sleep. Chilly.
  • Pulsatilla - Desires company and sympathy. Weeping, feeling sorry for herself; and like to be comforted. craves fresh air, wants the window open; thirst-less; aversion to warm food; Nausea - with little vomiting - which is worse after eating and drinking. tongue coated white or yellow.
  • Sepia - Empty feeling in stomach which may or may not be temporarily relieved by eating. Aversion to thought or odor of food. Desires tart food like pickles, vinegar, etc.; also desires chocolate. May complain that things taste salty. Irritable around people but does not want to be alone. Better from exercise, warmth, and sleep. Intermittent nausea which is worse in the mornings and worse by the smell or thought of food. You are unsympathetic or rude towards others.
  • Symphoricarpus - Deathly nausea. Continuous retching and vomiting. Better lying on back, worse motion. Constipated.
  • Tabacum - Deathly nausea, sinking feeling, cold and clammy with chills. Worse from any motion such as riding in a car. Cold sweat. Pale. Tendency to spit. Worse from heat, better in fresh air.
  • Veratrum Alb. or Veratrum Album - Vomiting with diarrhea. Freezing cold with cold sweat. Craves cold drinks with ice. Weak. Worse from exertion.

    Homeopathy and Pregnancy: Constipation

    Constipation is common in pregnancy as the hormones, which prepare the muscles of your pelvis for labor, can slow the digestive processes down. Adjusting your diet can often help mild constipation. Increase your intake of fluids - especially water - fruit and vegetables. Go easy on wheat products - as the gluten can have a clogging effect - and avoid iron tablets unless prescribed by your birth attendant. To read more about pregnancy and constipation Click Here.

  • Bryonia: Large, hard, dry stools which are difficult to expel. Often comes with a headache made worse by the slightest movement. You are irritable.
  • Nux Vomica: Frequent urging to pass a stool but in spite of straining, passing only small amounts each time feeling like some is left behind. You may itch and bleed.
  • Sepia: Straining to pass a large, hard stool. Your stomach feels full and there is a sensation of a lump in the rectum that may remain even after passing a stool. You feel generally sluggish.
  • Sulphur: Constipation with piles that itch and burn and are made worse by heat. You are generally restless, thirsty and sensitive to the heat.
