Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way by Susan McCutcheon
Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way: Revised Edition: An engaging, informative, and PRACTICAL book on the Bradley method! It is simple, and it works.
It explains the whys and hows of natural labor and birth. The book is based on the method implemented by Dr. Robert A. Bradley who was raised on a farm, and having witnessed many animal births as a part of farm life, believed that women, like the animals, could give birth without drugs or medication.
Dr. Bradley developed a childbirth method to teach women to do the things that animal mothers do instinctively.
If you want a natural birth in any environment, this is the book for you. There is a lot of pro-active consumerism for a better outcome by avoiding unnecessary intervention if you happen to have an/a OB/Hospital birth.
Especially beneficial for first time natural birthers and "coaches", there is very helpful information on laboring and coaching techniques. Good birth pictures. Also, vital information on nutrition and drugs in pregnancy. This one book has more than you are expecting! (no pun intended :P)
ps. The 1984 edition is by Susan McCutcheon-Rosegg with Peter Rosegg, her husband at that time. They were our Bradley instructors back in 1985.
Peter was also the photographer at the birth of our first child at home birth.
It was such a good experience that I got training to become a childbirth instructor, and 8 home-births later, I have no regrets in my birthing choices, I have many wonderful memories and now I know a few fantastic midwives.
