I Beleive

by Shantell
(Bahamas)

I don't have twins but I have 2 beautiful girls, 17 months & 4 years. They mean the world to me.

I never thought I would or could or even wanted to truly love somebody the way I love my babies after my mom was killed and I definitely didn't want kids. Before me having them I was a sales assistant and now I am very interested in pursuing becoming an ultrasound technician.

I gave natural birth to both my kids because I said if I'm going to do this I want to feel all the pain and have that memory of how I got here.

It's even fun talking about the story of my youngest birth with my 4 year old because only she and I were home at the time when I went into labor three weeks before my due date.

She knew when my contractions started to get strong because she would ask me every 2 minutes: "Mommy, the baby hurting your belly?"

I took a shower hoping to ease the pain and after getting dressed and lying down for only a minute I found myself pacing and everywhere I went my daughter was foot to foot behind me, giggling, thinking I was playing a game.

I tried to ignore her. I went to the bathroom because with the pain I was still experiencing, I had the sudden urge to vomit.

My daughter still behind me ask the same question that was, by now, truly annoying.

I laid down on the floor of my bathroom. My daughter giggled and laid down with me and preceded to say: "Mommy, we have to get that baby out from hurting you."

The next pain that hit me I knew she was right. So after trying countless times and not being able to reach my fiance on his cell phone, I decided to call 911 and they sent an ambulance.

While waiting for the ambulance I asked the neighbor to keep my daughter. She was kind enough to wait with me while I wiggled and danced and bled on my front room couch before lying on the ground.

About 5 minutes after I rode off in the ambulance. We had to pull over on the side of the road for me to give birth. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!

My daughter now comes to me, giggling, and asks: "Mommy, you remember when OUR baby was hurting your stomach and you was laying on the bathroom floor?"

The story of my kids birth is a classic in our home, and all of the excitement and all of the pain is what I'll have stored in my memory box forever.

These stories are so amazing and amazing are the people who share with us such a personal and sacred part of their lives.

You are truly helping expectant mothers who needs - or lacks encouragement - and inform the ones who are confused, like me.

Before watching this video, I was truly misinformed of the amount of women who gave natural childbirth to multiples.

My cousin is now 8 months pregnant with twins and I am now going to encourage her to watch this video.

I am now a believer.
