Grant's Natural Birth Story

It all started on November 3rd.

I woke up at 4 am and I thought my water was leaking. I didn't think much of it just drank a lot of water.

I started having contractions around 8 am, but nothing major. I called my mom to let her know. My husband came home at about noon and we went out walking, then went to Wal-Mart to get things we might need. The contractions tapered off, but I had a lot of back pain.

I put my son down for bed at 8.

At about 9:45 pm, I had just had an apple set it on the desk, Tim said he was gonna throw it away, so I layed back down, then all of a sudden I felt that 'pop' I got out of bed so fast turned on the light sure enough my water had broken!!

I got in the shower so it wouldn't get all over the floor. Then I got dressed while Tim called Mom. Then we got Aayden and headed to her house.

At about 10:30 my contractions started. But they were mostly in my back. They were 3 minutes apart, then went to 2 minutes apart! I hit transition at about 2:30 a.m.

I made two of my mom's chairs my best friends. I went back and forth and rocked my hips with each contraction. My mom printed out a picture of my son I wanted him to be my focal point. I lost my bloody show at 2:45 am. Then I started to feel the pressure, and I knew it wouldn't be long, so I got on the bed. I got on all fours, I felt the best in that position.

At about 3:05 am, I felt the urge to push. I pushed for about 25 minutes, then the baby's head started to crown. Then my mom said "oh no the baby is facing the wrong way." The baby was sunny side up just like my first. No wonder it hurt so bad!!!

The baby took his first breath before he was out and inhaled some of the liquid. My mom was about to suction him when he came flying out! She barely caught him, he came out so fast!!

My mom announced "it's a boy!!!" That's when I started to cry. I knew it was a boy from my feelings, but now I knew for sure!!!

I held him right away, he started rooting around and he's an excellent breastfeeder! Hasn't let go since. We weighed him he was 8.1 pounds, and almost 22 inches long. He was born on his due date, November 4th at 3:35 am...I felt great having him there at home. It was so wonderful. Only about 5 hours of hard labor, it was very intense! I would do it again in a heartbeat. I didn't have a name for him until he was maybe 6 hours old.

I named him Grant Timothy. It suits him. I haven't put him down since he was born. I'm in love with my little man.
