Porchia, I hear your concerned and I am so sorry. You may want to address these questions with your care provider.

Being dilated is not a sign that labor is near but rather more a sign that your body is getting ready. I have know women dilated at 2 or more centimeters for weeks.

But why even get internals at all??? They are unnecessary and the information they provide is just about useless.

The weight gain should not be an issue unless you have an underlying medical issue such as gestational diabetes or pre-eclampsia.

Pre-eclampsia would be accompanied by other symptoms as well such as high blood pressure. The spilling of protein in the urine and/or edema. Sometimes even headaches.

Also weight gain can be dependent on the quality of your diet.

As for the size of your baby...how is this determined???? Ultrasounds are renowned for being inaccurate... Morever is it 8 or 9? That is a big difference.

Whomever your care provider may be, you should be able to address those issues with him/her. He/she should listen and answer.

All decisions about your care should be made with your provider and with you being made fully aware of everything. You should be given all the information pertinent to your care.

Also at 35 1/2 weeks, even in the event that your baby was born now, know that he/she would be fine.
