I understand your concern
by: Natural Pregnancy Mentor - Florence

Hi Judy,

I understand your concern! Hearing that the baby is breech can be very scary.

First remember, breech is NOT abnormal, just a variation of normal, just like twins. If she and that baby are healthy it all will be ok. A well nourished mom can certainly birth a breech vaginally.

One of my twin babies turned just before labor! This baby still can change his position!

Second, C-sections have NEVER proven to have a better outcome. They are just easier on the doctor and can be justified better if they are sued.

Third, there are various things that they can try to turn this baby...here are a few suggestion:

1) It may sound crazy to some but ask the baby to turn. He hears you. You can tell him (or her) that he is going to be born and loved no matter what but that being head down would make it easier for everyone.
It has been proven that babies do respond.

2) Moxa on the pinky toes. There is an acupressure point on the toe and it is known to help babies be and remain in the best position. A Shiatsu practitioner could help with that or they can try it themselves.

3) Homeopathic Pulsatilla is also known to turn babies with much success.

4) Some practitioner will do a manual version.

5) The Farm is excellent and has an exceptional worldwide reputation. They do breech and twins....

Remember, doctors recommend c-sections because they are not trained to do breech deliveries. They do not know how to do them. OBGYNs are however surgeons. They excel at surgery.

Are there some risks to a breech delivery which are not present with a baby who is head done...yes. Are there risks with a c-section? Your bet. The risks just to the mother are at least 4 times higher than a vaginal delivery depending on the study you look at! A c-section is major abdominal surgery and it is not without consequences for mom and baby.

There are doctors who will deliver breech babies vaginally...so ask around. Many midwives also know how do deliver breech babies.

I understand your concern. Give them your love and support....all will be fine.
