A new mommy...
I am going to have my first child this summer. I have been thinking of going natural (un-medicated) birth for a few months now. I have had a terrible fear of C-section.
I was up early today and watched "Pregnant in America" on Hulu...it was eye opening because I was like one of the people the interviewer surveyed. I, like many Americans, only think labor is about terrible pain. I have lost sight on what is important -- The safety of my child and bringing her into the world the best possible way.
While this is MY opinion...I was bothered by my birth bored and how many women think I am naive or belligerent in my thoughts about going through an un-medicated birth for the safety of my baby. I know that everything, even birth, has risks. Even going for natural birth...I can still have serious risks occur BUT I can say I tried my best and did what I think is right for my baby.
Watching "Pregnant In America" I heard of Cytotec and it scared me because my friend told me to get induced.
She is worried that my hospital is too far (30 min drive). That is when I got scared of what hospitals allow to happen. I don't see how they can play with people lives. Seems like we have become such a money driven country. This also has made me really passionate in going back to school for what I want. I want to go to school and be a Doctor. I love children and am very compassionate towards others. I think there should be more people that LOVE helping women deliver naturally and just be there to help have healthy babies instead of seeing a price tag on them. My new desire is to just get ready for the journey ahead of me...thank you for this and I will keep looking up info specially now!
Keep writing and informing. One day people will be happy about it. If I had more to give other than a story..I'd do it.
