Peppermint Essential Oil

Mentha Piperita

Peppermint essential oil has a strong, clean, fresh and minty aroma. Peppermint is one of the oldest and most highly regarded herbs for soothing digestion. It may also restore digestive efficiency.

Jean Valnet M.D. studied pure peppermint oil's supportive effect on the liver and respiratory systems. Other scientists have also researched its role in improving taste and smell when inhaled.

Dr. William N. Dember (1928-2006) - of the University of Cincinnati - studied peppermint oil's ability to improve concentration and mental sharpness.

Alan Hirsch M.D. studied peppermint oil's ability to directly affect the brain's satiety center, which triggers a sensation of fullness after meals.

As you can see, the benefits of peppermint oil are far reaching. If you know of some other uses or have a tip or a recipe to share that uses peppermint oil please share it!

  • Natural Pregnancy Tips from Alisha And Florence

We have used peppermint essential oil for headaches and as a fever reducer.

For headaches, we use it neat on the forehead. We also use it neat - on the sole of the feet - for fevers (even on our babies).

However, we would only use peppermint oil neat with Young Living therapeutic grade essential oils. They were recommended to us by a therapist who said that these oils were the only ones she could use neat on people that did not cause skin - or other - reactions. This has proven to be true for us as well.

Florence ~ I make "Peppermint Water" when my children have a fever:
Water, honey and 3 drops of Young Living Peppermint Oil.
The kids really like it and it makes a great fever reducer without harming their bodies - unlike pharmaceutical drugs which delay the healing process.
